Hi, my name is Jeff Allen; I am a BCU aspirant level 5 coach (sea).

I love the Ocean and I get a great deal of satisfaction in introducing people to the world of sea kayaking.

I have been involved on the Ocean for the past 20 years, ever since moving to Cornwall and hold a great deal of respect for the sea. Its many moods and ever-changing atmosphere never cease to amaze me.

Falmouth has a long and distinguished maritime history and this is where I call my home; I know the local coastline intimately.

I founded Sea Kayaking Cornwall in 2003 and started to teach and guide around the South West Peninsular, I do not however limit my kayaking activities to just Cornwall; I have instructed and led groups in many other areas around the world.

In 2004 I travelled to Japan and with Hadas Feldman made a full circumnavigation of the four main islands of Honshu, Kyushu, Hokkaido and Shikoku, a distance over 6500 kilometers.

In 2005 I was a part of the first British team to circumnavigate the remote Antarctic Island of South Georgia, long considered by sea kayakers around the world as being the ultimate challenge in ocean paddling. Also on that expedition were Peter Bray, Nigel Dennis andonce more Hadas Feldman.

In March 2008 I set off to start a long term exploration/circumnavigation of Scandinavia by sea kayak and ski, leaving Goteborg in Sweden I paddled north with fellow paddler Mark Schoon, together we made it as far as the small island of Husvaer on Norways north west coast, just south of the Arctic Circle. In April 2010 I shall be returning to this beautiful archipelago to continue the journey north, this section I shall be accompanied by Jim Frampton and Petr Major. This years destination is the small Russian border town of Kirkenes. The expedition, apart from being one hell of an adventure is also aiming to raise money and awareness for the Ovarian Cancer Action & Children’s Hospice South West charities.

I also write for the kayaking press and regularly contribute to ‘Ocean Paddler’ magazine, I enjoy delivering inspirational/motivational presentations about my expeditions and other sea kayaking related topics. For further details on my writing visit www.jeffallen.co.uk

For the last few years I have been developing a series of Incident Management and rescue clinics, specifically designed for expedition paddlers.
