If you have the experience but want to get to the best places and push your limits then we can help you. Every course at SKC is tailored to suit the needs and desires of the participants and so the course can cover a variety of topics to include:- Rescues, Personal skills, Leadership, Planning, Navigation, Surfing, Rockhopping, Tidal paddling and Journeys. The team that run the SKC courses are top class coaches and are highly experienced kayakers. We keep our ratios low so you get the most out of the course. The Advanced II is a course to develop your leadership skills in an advanced environment. We will give you rescues and tools to use to cope with a variety of situations out at sea. To lead in an advanced environment you need to be confident in your paddling skills in those conditions. To help you achieve this we will try to develop your personal skills in a more advanced environment using Cornwall's amazing surf and rocky coastline. This really will be an incredible learning experience.
You should be at or above the BC 4* level. Therefore you should be happy leading a group in up to force 4 winds and 3 Knots of tide. The course is designed to train you up to the BC 5* level. We could cover up to 15-20 miles in a day depending on conditions and ability of the group.
We have consistent surf with beaches that face a variety of directions allowing us to find the right surf for the session. We can use it to help develop skills or to practice rescues and leadership.
We can help you develop your rescues skills to give you the tools for your paddling toolbox to enable you to deal with a variety of scenarios.
We will make use of the rocky exposed coasts of Cornwall to develop leadership techniques in a variety of conditions.
During the course we will be able to work on any aspect of your personal paddling skills to help build your confidence in conditions.
Each morning we will look at the forecast together to decide where the best location for the day will be. Using our classroom we can practice planning trips in tide and putting together day planning sheets for leading groups.
We will have the opportunity to explore large sections of the coast with around 15-20 miles being covered in a day. Cornwall has some spectacular scenery including dramatic headlands, caves, arches and beautiful beaches.
