Stavanger

We are now in Stavanger, staying with Erling for the weekend: Erling has shown us around the city and we also took the opportunity to visit the local Kayak shop Uti Naturen. There are a great many racing sea kayaks here, imported from Portugal and New Zealand. The sheltered waters of the Fjords offer many flat water opportunities for fitness paddling and sea kayak racing events. The city also has a long and established rapport with Great Britain, before the rail connection to Oslo was established, it was a quicker journey to Great Britain than it was to the capitol. This morning the local newspaper came over and interviewed us, i think many things may well have been lost in translation but that's the way it goes when visiting foreign shores.
