I think everyone that attended last years event will agree it was our best yet. We had a variety of conditions and so much on offer. This year we will do our very best to make it even better. With more courses, top class coaches, international talks and festivities. Cornwall has a variety of locations to launch from to get the most from the days forecast. We use this to our advantage by offering courses on flat water skills, surf for sea kayakers to advanced journeys. There are options to camp or stay in self catering bunk house accommodation. There will also be a food tent if you prefer to spend your time chatting and paddling. There will be a “bring your own food” BBQ on the Saturday and inspiring talks throughout the weekend and week.  The week after we have lots of different 5 day options and if you need to get assessed at any awards the following weekend has both ISKGA and BC assessments lined up.

Forward Paddling
Neil Stamps is back again this year to offer a comprehensive forwards paddling class. He will look at your stroke to develop all aspects of the technique to make you more efficient out on a journey.
Neil has been paddling for most of his life (starting at the age of 2!), with experience in most forms of kayaking and canoeing. He represented GB in wild water racing for 10 years and won 4 world medals during that time, and as a technical coach was part of the team that delivered over 30 World Cup and 10 World Championship medals for Great Britain. He has a particular interest in the technical aspects of kayaking, looking at the adaptation and transfer of skills from flat water to white water and more recently sea kayaking.

Traditional Paddling & Greenland Rolling Day
Description: The modern sea kayaking has its roots firmly based in the traditions of Greenland qajaqing. The Inuit have used ‘qajaqs’ as a means of hunting and fishing for centuries. Tradition being that a qajaq would be made of sealskin stretched over a wooden frame. Rolling a qajaq was considered an essential self-rescue skill that was learned and practiced on a regular basis.
This class offers the opportunity to learn about a range of Greenland rolls and paddling strokes as well as be immersed in the culture of Greenland. It is a chance to find out about Avataqs, Akuilisaqs and Norsat, as well as get to know the difference between a Tuilik and a Tupilaq. As an added element, the class will begin with Yoga for Paddlers.
Equipment: Full immersion gear is required plus own boat and paddle (regular or traditional). No need to be a Greenland kayaker but we hope to have paddles available for participants to try if they wish.

Surf Kayaking

This year we are offering surf kayaking in proper surf kayaks!  Sea Kayaking Cornwall now offers surf kayaking courses so we have a fleet of surf kayaks for you to try.  This is a great way to have fun in the surf as well as improve your overall kayaking techniques.  It is aimed at INTROmediate to advanced sea kayakers as we are keeping the numbers low so it can be tailored to suit the individuals.
